Safe & Effective bed bug removal
Are bed bugs keeping you up at night? Do you suffer from bites, itchiness, and other problems caused by these pint-sized pests? At Eco Earth Bed Bug Dogs, we offer a complete line of bed bug detection and removal services.
All our pest control services are fast, effective, affordable, and contain absolutely no harmful chemicals or toxins. They’re safe for use around families, children, pets, and more. If bed bugs have invaded your home or other location, here’s the three-step process for how we’ll kick them to the curb!
Bed Bug Dogs
First, we release the hounds! Our bed bug dogs will thoroughly inspect your house for bed bugs. Not only is every dog on our team adorable, but they’ve undergone hundreds of hours of expert bed bug detection training. It’s the same rigorous training used to train dogs to detect drugs, bombs, and other hazards.
With proper training, dogs have a 97.5% positive indication rate of detecting bed bugs. They’re far more reliable than any other method, including expert human exterminators. The secret lies in their sense of smell, which is roughly forty times greater than a human’s.
How a Bed Bug Dog Inspection Works
A few simple steps on your part will help our team deliver superior results. First, before we arrive, don’t clean your location. Vacuuming, sweeping, and changing sheets and towels can drive bed bugs into temporary hiding, which makes them more difficult to detect during our inspection.
Also, keep the area as still as possible. Close all doors and windows. Shut off all fans, including the home’s HVAC system, fans in your kitchen and bathroom, and even small electronics with fans such as desktops and laptops. Taking these actions at least one hour before inspection helps the scent accumulate in the home.
During the inspection, we typically ask homeowners (and their pets) to wait outside or at least stay quiet and still. The dog will search through the house for the target scent. During the inspection, we might move furniture, linens, and other household items as necessary for the dog to search thoroughly.
Any areas which the dog responds to are then physically examined by our team. We’re looking for additional signs of infestation, such as live bugs, eggs, cast skins, fecal stains, and more. Finally, we’ll present you with our findings.

Cryonite Freezing
Next, we attack the bed bugs with Cryonite, an amazingly effective alternative to traditional pesticides. It’s a spray of liquid carbon dioxide (CO2), which is completely non-toxic and safe for use around people, animals, water, and food.
While many bed bug treatments involve the use of high heat, Cryonite uses a different tactic – extreme cold. Inside the Cryonite storage tank, the CO2 is kept at -110° F in snow form. When sprayed through the high-pressure nozzle of the applicator, the CO2 evaporates, turning into gas.
The evaporation process happens in the blink of an eye, but it requires energy, which it takes from water in the bed bugs’ cells. They’re instantly crystallized and killed by the CO2 particles.
The Cryonite system typically consists of a 10 kg gas canister on a trolley. A wand-like applicator, called a lance, connects to the canister with a hose. It sprays out a quiet stream of semi-visible powdered snow under high pressure.
The service technician will spray key areas throughout your location, concentrating on areas indicated by the dog. One huge advantage of Cryonite is that its flexible chemical composition allows it to easily flood all the nooks and crannies where bed bugs like to hide, such as deep within bed frames, furniture, and walls.
Another major benefit is that it’s safe to spray on basically anywhere, including electronics such as inside computers, video game consoles, and televisions. It’s also completely safe to spray on food preparation areas.
The Cryonite freezing process delivers instant results. There are no blood stains or other evidence of dead bed bugs. Plus, the spray leaves behind no residue, condensation, or any other trace. You can immediately sit on the furniture, turn on the electronic devices, and otherwise use the room normally.
High Heat Steam
After we’ve frozen the bed bugs, we apply high-heat steam to eliminate any stragglers. Steam instantly kills all types of bed bugs, including queens, adult bed bugs, nymphs, and larvae.
However, steam does have limitations. Unlike Cryonite, steam doesn’t reach deep into crevices and cracks. If the bed bugs live more than 2 3/8 inches inside a wall or hole, they could survive steam treatments, which is why we use steam as a finishing treatment instead of a primary removal strategy.
Steam machines easily and effectively treat large areas. During liquid nitrogen treatments, a small number of bed bugs will flee the targeted areas and escape. Steam treatments are used as a follow-up method to target any bugs that have scattered throughout the location.
Our professional technicians use commercial steam cleaners with adjustable steam volume controls to allow for precise application. These machines are much more powerful than a standard home carpet cleaner or steam machine, which don’t generate lethal levels of heat. However, our specialized machines create steam as hot as 420° to ensure it kills bed bugs on contact.
Steam works best on flat, fabric-based surfaces. We’ll concentrate steam treatments on carpets, upholstered furniture, rugs, bedsheets, pet beds, curtains, box springs, pillows, and more. Even though the steam is incredibly hot, our experienced techs understand how to apply it safely so it won’t damage your belongings.
After applying steam treatments, fabrics might be slightly damp for a brief period of time. Fortunately, steam treatments leave behind no bed bug stains, burns, or other issues. We don’t use steam on electronics, countertops, wood, or other non-fabrics (but, as described above, those types of materials are safe to treat with Cryonite).

Eco-Friendly Methods vs. Traditional Exterminating
There’s more than one way to kill a bed bug. But more than simply killing them, you want to make sure the methods used won’t harm you, your family, your pets, or your property. Here’s a look at several traditional methods, as well as their potential problems:
Heat Treatments – Heat treatments are safe for use around people and pets, and won’t harm the environment, but they don’t always do a great job reaching bed bugs within deep crevices and holes.
Steam – While steam is an effective wrap-up treatment following freezing, it’s not a complete solution on its own because it’s unsafe to spray around electronics.
Fumigation – While fumigation does kill bed bugs, it’s also hazardous to humans and pets, requiring an evacuation for several days when used in a home or office.
Insecticides – Poisons, of course, contain toxic chemicals. They also can’t be used around clothing, bedding, electronics, and many other household objects.
When you consider the downsides, many traditional methods aren’t worth the risk. Fortunately, our eco-friendly products and solutions offer numerous advantages, including:
Safe – The biggest advantage is that green methods don’t pose any health risks for the people or pets on the premises. They’re also ideal for use around anyone with allergies, respiratory issues, or compromised health.
Clean – Cryonite spray and stream treatments leave behind no residue, stains, wet spots, or any other signs of use.
Fast – Unlike the two to three days required for fumigation, eco-friendly methods take less than a full day for most homes and mid-sized offices. Larger locations might require more time, but Cryonite spray is still the fastest method possible.
Thorough – CO2 spray is the only method safe to use inside electronics, near medical equipment, and on food preparation surfaces.
Not only do eco-friendly practices make sense for individual locations, but they benefit the environment, too. Cryonite spray is created with a carbon-neutral process, so it adds no carbon dioxide to the atmosphere.
When Should You Call? Common Signs You Need Bed Bug Removal Services
Bed bugs are tiny terrors that aren’t always easy to detect. Here are common signs of bed bug activity in your home or other location.
Red Stains – If you have a bed bug infestation in your home, you’ll almost certainly crush some of them while you sleep. Look for red stains on your sheets and pillowcases.
Bite Marks – Bed bug bites typically appear around the shoulders and neck. They’re usually in a trail instead of random clusters. In many cases, bites appear in groupings of three.
Bed Bug Feces – They form black trails you’ll find along mattress and furniture cushion seams, baseboards, and anywhere else where bed bugs spend their time. Also, watch for semi-transparent exoskeletons.
Smell – Large numbers of bed bugs can create an aroma in the room, typically described as sickly sweet.
Bed Bugs – Finally, bed bugs are visible to the naked eye, so you might be able to spot them. They’re about the size of an apple seed with six legs and a rusty-red, oval body.
It’s important to note that bed bug infestations, especially in the early stages, don’t always show lots of obvious signs. By the time you notice even a few symptoms, such as a couple of bites or a fecal trail or two, you could be on the cusp of a major pest problem. It’s important to call an extermination service right away.
Also, while many of the signs above indicate a pest infestation, they don’t necessarily indicate bed bugs. For instance, flea bites look very similar to bed bug bites, while roaches also leave behind fecal trails. The best way to identify bed bugs for certain is with a trained dog followed by confirmation from a trainer exterminator.
How to Prevent Bed Bugs from Returning?
After we’ve removed the bed bugs from your locations, we’ll help you develop strategies to keep them from returning. Specifics will vary based on your unique needs, but general bed bug prevention methods include:
Reduce Clutter – Piles of papers, clothes left on the floor, and other clutter – even if it’s generally clean – provides hiding places for bed bugs to live, breed, and thrive.
Regularly Wash and Dry All Linens – Machine washing, followed by drying in an electric dryer on high heat, helps kill bed bugs.
Clean Your Laundry Hamper – Bed bugs often find safe refuge in laundry hampers because people don’t clean them often.
Use a Mattress Encasement – An encasement is a cover for your mattress and box springs that prevents bed bugs from burrowing inside. Once your bed is free from bugs, use a cover to keep them out even if another infestation occurs.
Vacuum Regularly – Aside from floors, also vacuum upholstery, curtains, and under furniture. Each time you vacuum, place the bag or dump the canister contents into a plastic bag. Seal the bag tightly and throw it away outside of the location.
While these methods can’t remove a bed bug infestation on their own, they can help reduce the likelihood of another one occurring. Implementing strategies to control NYC bed bugs is a must, even after professional extermination, because new critters can potentially enter on clothing or through neighboring infestations.
